Überblick
As a result of their capabilities in the addressing of safety issues and their comparatively low price, phenolic resins are among the most frequently used duroplasts, and are ideal for use in a wide range of applications in e.g. the insulation (wall insulation), construction, automotive and mechanical engineering sectors.
In partnership with the management team, Capiton acquired a 100% interest in Prefere Resins from the Scandinavian chemical group Dynea in the course of a carve-out in 2014. The deal was proposed to Capiton by Alois Schwarz, former managing director of the site in Germany. Capiton benefitted from his exceptionally high level of expertise in the industrial sector, and from easy access to management.
With Capiton‘s entry into the market, Prefere Resins saw the positive effects of increasing the depth of added value by constructing a formaldehyde plant at the main site. In 2016, a recapitalization of the company was implemented successfully together with ICG and in 2018 Capiton sold its stake to Silverfleet Partners.
